#FriendsFriday 10 - Dani B Larsen
How are you involved with Casson & Friends?
I first became a 'Friend' when I was invited to work with Tim to create a duet, 'Tamed' for InTransit Festival in 2014. This was a collaboration with LSO Sound Hub Associate, composer Maxim Boon and involved performing with a live strong quintet amongst a mountain of broken and architecturally arranged wooden chairs in a wonderfully tall white space! It was beautiful!!
An avid fan of the collective, I was delighted to be invited to take part in the Casson & Friends Wild Card at Sadler's Wells, where I was paired with actor and musician Tim Van Eyken as part of the First Contact segment of the evening. With just a few days to create something from scratch, Tim and I took an incredible journey to our final product, philosophising, researching, hypothesising, improvising, playing, dancing, singing and submerging ourselves in a fantastic creative process that still resonates within me, at the most unlikely moments, still now one year on...

What do you love about dance?
I like its power to communicate and open parts of the mind that words can't always reach, both as a spectator and as a practitioner. I also like that I can do it any time, anywhere, in almost any situation, at any moment.. Usually initiated by sound(s) of some sort, music or impromptu improvised song..
What song always makes you dance?
There's always more than one! But in this instance; Volcano by Woodkid.
