How are you/have you been involved with Casson & Friends?
I worked with Casson & Friends in collaboration with a project called Kirkley Creates in Lowestoft. It was a duet made over 2 days and performed on the second day on Lowestoft Beach for their First Light Festival. The duet was a response to conversations had with Kirkley community members about their experiences foraging and their connection to plants, nature and wildlife.
What do you love about dance?
I love being able to express sounds and connecting to rhythms in dance. I really enjoy dancing to live music and allowing the music to enter my body, it's like I become a vessel for the music, we become one for some moments, and I truly feel free in these moments. I get a chance to switch off my thinking brain and listen to my physical spirit, it can be quite emotional sometimes too!
What song always makes you dance? (We have a Spotify playlist!)
Sooooo Many, why you make me chose one!!!!? I just went on shuffle on my 2021 playlist and this one touches me deeply at the moment. "Even after all, by Finley Quaye" on a chilled note. This one is more upbeat and makes me want to bop! "Rock wit U - Yoruba Soul Mix by DJ Jazzy Jeff, Erro, Onsunlade"

What else are you working on at the moment? (Upcoming performances, exciting projects, holidays!)
Things are starting to pick up since the quiet reflective times of the pandemic. I've been working on releasing another single on a mixtape with a collective I am part of called "Scrapbook Mixtape". This will be "Volume 2: Voyage" and the song I'm releasing is called "Mission" in collaboration with "And_Is_Phi".
Dance wise, I've had some auditions that I'm waiting to hear back from, I'm going into a 10 day R&D with Seven Sisters Group exploring ideas and themes related to how one's hair shapes identity and experiences in the world, ideas of beauty, shame and much more. The show will be an immersive, tourable piece eventually, but for now we're just meeting to play and discover together!
