How are you/have you been involved with Casson & Friends?

I've been on several adventures with Señor Casson over the past 5 years which include: commissioning Selling Secrets in Bournemouth, bringing him to Aberdeen and commissioning Choreospondance, engaging in long and luxurious conversations on topics of authorship and participation and when visiting London staying on the good ship Casson aka HMS Klasina.

What do you love about dance?

Dance amplifies our ability to connect with the self and others. Movement feeds our bodies, can be found in all cultures and levels of society and is inherently democratic.

What song always makes you dance?

What are you working on at the moment?

I'm collaborating with a musician and together we're creating a Radio Ballad about dance (inspired by Ewan MacColl) - so I'm interviewing lots of people and in the midst of editing. You can listen to me online/on the radio every Friday night at 9pm on Forest FM with my show that specialises in film soundtracks or read reviews of some of the dance I've seen with Nick Minns. Last month I was in conversation with Seeta Patel at 2Faced Dance Company's The BENCH - an event with oodles of debate and conversations surrounding the issue of gender disparity for female choreographers working in contemporary dance.

Follow Ian on Twitter, visit his website and read his dance reviews at Writing About Dance.

Meet more of the Casson & Friends team every Friday with #FriendsFriday!
