DERBY!
Tea, Cake & Conversation…
Dance Theatre Company 'Casson & Friends', are working with Derby CAN, Derby Theatre, Derby Feste and Déda to create a joyful new performance inspired by what people love about Derby!
We are inviting Derby residents to come into the studio for a chat with the Casson & Friends dancers.
We want to hear what you love about Derby, and the dancer will use this information and turn your thoughts and memories into dance before your very eyes!
These conversations will inspire the performance we are creating for Derby Festé, and in return for your time we will provide a cup of tea and a cake! Yum!
The whole experience will take just under 1 hour and you can bring a friend too if you like! You won’t have to do any dancing, just have a chat (and eat cake!)
The sessions will take place at Déda, 19 Chapel Street, Derby, DE1 3GU and the time-slots we have available are:

about the postcard project
This Summer, Dance Theatre Company, Casson & Friends are working with Derby CAN to create a brand new performance inspired by what the people of Derby people love about where they live!
Casson & Friends will be based in Derby between 13th and 26th September, to create a unique dancing postcard that celebrates the city so why not get involved!
The postcard project (formerly carte postale), is a unique project that sees Casson & Friends take up residence in a town or city for 7-14 days, creating new works with professional dancers and local communities. These works are often choreographed entirely by members of the public, and rehearsed in public spaces.
Taking inspiration from the place, it’s inhabitants, and their memories - the work is created and rehearsed in various spaces across the city, producing a unique ‘dancing postcard’ - a tribute to the town or city through movement, and a celebration of the creativity within us all!

A film was also created in collaboration with a local filmmaker.
